AppFurnace
This was by far my favourite exercise undertaken throughout the course. There's just something very satisfying about being able to go from creating something on a computer screen to being able to carry it around in your pocket...
We were initially given three ideas for our app and told to choose one, or come up with our own idea...

None of the three options really took my fancy so I decided to come up with my own idea. I remembered seeing something on Facebook quite a while ago about drug combinations - which legal and illegal drugs can be taken together safely and which are unsafe and even deadly. Having recently heard of a friend of a friend dying from an accidental overdose, I decided to roll with the idea, thinking that maybe I can actually make something that will educate people and maybe even save a life.

I found the table with a Google image search, this is what it looks like:
As you can see there are a large number of different drugs on the table, and a colour coding system for the combinations... The key is shown below:
I wanted to be able to include as much detail and accuracy in my app as possible because it is obviously quite an important subject with lots that could go wrong if someone was misinformed, however I knew I would not be able to separate the combinations into 6 different categories so I initially chose to have 2 categories: "Safe" and "Unsafe".

I also knew it would be difficult to include every drug on the table, so I decided to filter out ones that most people wouldn't have heard of, or taken, leaving me with 20 in total. These were, in my opinion, the most "popular" drugs for young people and party-goers, who were my target audience.
